I have been an artist for more than 20 years producing works in oil, pastels, clay, acrylics and mixed media. A couple of years ago I became fascinated with mermaids and decided to see what would result from the combination of all of these mediums. Using wooden forms, many different styles of painting, and accenting with shells and numerous other materials, even I was astonished at the results. The finished mermaids were incredibly interesting and best of all-FUN. It seemed a shame to let them go off alone in the world nameless. I decided to name each mermaid and write a short history of her background The best part is that everyone who sees them, smiles.
I now work full time producing mermaids, each one an original creation with a name and a history. I will not duplicate any of them but can create similar versions if you see one you really like.. As long as I can just let my creativity flow, each mermaid is a creation of love rather than a work. Each mermaid is signed, dated and copyrighted.
Much of my inspiration comes from the sea. I use a lot of vivid colors and drama in my work. I love to experiment with varied materials and color combinations.
I live and work in St. Augustine Fl., for which I am very grateful. I show my work at various art shows in the area, including most Saturdays at the Riverside Arts Market under the Fuller Warren Bridge in Jacksonville, Fl., and accepting occasional special commissions.
